Dark Avenger Boost 05/01/2017 Kdn Patch

Tomorrow's kDN patch will finally give DA (and some other classes) their much needed boost.


Skill board damages change at max level:

Graves: 1045% > 2190%

Dark Stinger: 1251% > 2402%

Piercing Crescent: 532% > 748%

Doom Blade: 1014% > 3757%

Vengeance Storm: 2593% > 3840%

Dark Crash: 1518% > 4355%

There's text about Avenger Force with the numbers 50 and 24, I'm assuming AF CD for lv1 is changed from 50s to 24s, which would mean it doesn't need to be maxed anymore. But since I cannot read Korean, will wait for translations.

No changes have been mentioned for any other skills.

Not a wow-gamebreaking boost when comparing to currently awakened classes, but this boost definitely makes Dark Avengers relevant again in PvE and not just a hobby class that's geared by devout people.

I don't know how much powerful are other classes with awakening boost though. So far i've only seen sally , crus and adept in action

But this boost for DA's really gonna help him alot. He got 50% dmg increase and cd reduction so

Graves: 1045% ( 1567% ) > 2190% ( 3285%)

Dark Stinger: 1251% (1867%) > 2402% (3603%)

Doom Blade: 1014% (1521%) > 3757% (5935% )

Consider all da's skills have very low cd, the 2 strongest skills only have 15s. I'd say DA will nearly get x3 toward his dps potential with this boost

Both Dark Crash and Graves calculations are wrong, I forgot the exact value but DC final board damage should be about 13k% or 14k%, Graves nightmare form co-efficient s 2, all other skills are 1.5, so graves is actually 4.2k% in NM form. Also Doom Blade should be 5635, I think you made a typo with 6 and 9.

But yes, the boost is very nice and I'll say; don't think of "not too many bandwagons". Warriors are a very popular class, I see HBF rankings every week in HW/SW, all 4 main warriors have over 100 players participating every week and even DA has 80+ usually. Compare that to even Archers, another common class, Tempest/WW only have 5~7 pages and Arti usually 3~4 pages. Silver Hunter 2~3 pages at most. There's already a lot more DA players than you'd think, I won't be surprised at all if a lot of people play DA after this patch.

And you're right Dark Crash is miscalculated. But at least this will make Dark crash more worth to use rather than Dark suffering which is current now out-shined dark crash imo due to it's easy to use and less riskier than dark crash.

Ugh.. Bandwagons will alwasy be a thing (shame)

Right now just seeing how they curse and mock at DA in world chat but knowing later after this patch they will "update" their attitude make me feel (crazy)

Yeah that's the other thing about this patch.

Right now DA DPS is heavily reliant on Dark Suffering, after this patch all the main skills are boosted a lot and they're all fairly easy to use.

I actually made a DA vid after leveling mine up just a couple days ago right before this patch was announced, quite a funny co-incidence but even in that run where I'm mainly focusing on Dark Suff, if these skill changes are factored in, the Skill Details would change drastically, and if play style is changed I'm sure we can pull out a lot more damage from it. Really excited about the patch for DA and SH tbh.



(tho it's the first time I played DA since 90 release, so I kinda play badly but still, excited for the patch)

Btw you said graves nightmare form co-efficient is 2 while other skills are 1.5 ?

Also about Dark Suffering, it happened to be buggy quite alot, sometime time i stack up left click and right click, all the sword energy exploded but deal no dmg just like in your vid and my state is just like still in dark suffering status, had to right click another time to end the skill

Yeah, the Graves co-efficient is higher than other skills, its nightmare version total damage is twice that of normal one.

Also I can't really say why that happens because that's literally the first time I played DA ever since 90 cap so I don't have much experience with the bug to figure out why it'd happen. In my case I thought it was because of the boss's AoE attack breaking my DSuff SA momentarily and cancelling the skill's damage but due to 300+ Ping it got delay in registering the SAB on my end and thus showed me still casting the skill. But that's just my hypothesis, I can't say for sure.

I see, it's weird for graves though, because in the skill description, it says only increase 50% though

You're probably calculating it as additional 200% damage instead of 200% damage. The difference in both calculation would be -

Additional 200% Damage:
(Board * 1.5) + 2*(Board * 1.5) = (Board * 1.5) * (1+2)
= (4.3 * 1.5) * (1+2)
= (4.3 * 1.5) * 3

200% Damage:
(Board * 1.5) * 2
= (4.3 * 1.5) * 2

The value you're getting is 6.5k% * 3, but in practice the damage is 6.5k% * 2 as Thisfieldisre showed with his test, so it's 13k%

The skill tool tip/description clearly states that the damage changes to 200%(DA form;150% base) upon full charge.

Using my prev. post, If the 19k% is to be followed, then the damage of a fully charged DC should be around 4.8m.

Ohh i see, i thought it was "Additional 200% damage when fully charged". So it only 6.5k * 2 not 6.5k * 3. I get it. Still, DC got boosted finally. 13k% is not bad for a 15s cd. Thanks guys.

Warrior tree I don't even use Circle Break usually so I just take all to get to 45, upto you what you do with it.
DA tree pretty straight forward, Soul Cutter's damage is pretty meh and a long cast, when I play I cancel it after first hit (since every hit debuffs) so I keep it at lv1 and max everytihng else.
Avenger Force won't need to be maxed post boost (which will come in 3~5 months) but there's pretty much nowhere else to put the SP, even maxed Dash Combo has less board damage than 1/12 AF so I reckon this build should be just fine post-boost too.

Fire 15% or FD 10% depends on your gears and builds, other 3 passives are pretty standard.

so can Avenger mode become as permanent as Arch Heretic?
