As a tank user, I'm not very informed on how dps works, but the awakened classes have the highest potential. This includes warrior, archer, sorceress, academic and cleric classes. The ones I've witnessed working in my raids are usually gladiators, lagdepts, and acrobats. But in my opinion if you want to enjoy this game, rather than being guided by what's top tier and what isn't, you should give several classes a try and pick the one that has the playstyle you like the most, even if its damage is not fantastic.

Have a nice day!

...

These kind of threads tend to invite ridicule and trolling. A cursory search of these forums for similar threads should have taught you this lesson.

Nonetheless, the general sentiment is that most awakened DPS classes bar Barbarian, Majesties and GMs are quite good, there are also a select number of non-awakened outliers like Flurry that can do good damage too.

What matters more nowadays is:

1) Your playstyle preference and experience with the class: Each class plays differently and have their own flavors and need a degree of experience to maximize their potential (some are easier to play than others of course).

2) How much you spend: Summary is, most of the awakened classes perform similarly enough such that gear differences and spending determines the outcome at the end of a nest/raid more than your class.

Obviously there are a couple drastic outliers among the awakened classes such as Hellfire Saleana, but most of them perform well enough such that none of them are really a waste of investment.

IMO, making a character just for strength or just because it is very powerful on the current cap is not a good reason, simply because you won't bother playing it if it gets hit by a very bad nerf.

Make a character that you think you will have fun and enjoy playing. The DWC is  there and has wide selection of classes to try. It might not give you the overall experience, but it will give you an idea. Strength is not always the answer, your skills as a player and class mastery will be more than enough to enjoy and maximize damage output regardless of whatever boost or nerf that will come.

It is not about the class but it is how you, as a player, will be able to maximize your chosen class' strength.

You need gear and a large wallet. Key things to be top Dps is full IDN L gears, Genesis accessories x3, abyss earring/idn L earring, full FD. These usually set you above average geared DPS. Strong classes are those that have awakened. ML glad sniper Sal smasher to name a few. Top top top Dps? Debatable by the reasons shared in this thread. But again, that depends; what is your goal?

The strongest class is hard to tell and lead to many debate and controversial. But I can give a list of class which have good DPS:
- ML, glad
- Smasher, Sal
- Sniper, WW
- Inqui, crus
- SS, adept.

Before going to the main topic, I believe we have to begin with the introduction.

What is strength?
